Blueprint Robotics Tour: March 11, 2020
Wednesday, March 11, 3:00 – 5:00pm
Location: Blueprint Robotics, 1500 Broening Highway, Baltimore, MD 21224
Join BEC-Baltimore for a tour of the Blueprint Robotics panelized construction plant. Blueprint Robotics serves projects from Virginia to Boston from their factory right here in Baltimore. The panelized method can provide tighter and higher performing assemblies in 50% of the time of conventional on-site stick built construction. Blueprint Robotics delivers the exterior enclosure as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection trades.
In addition to the plant tour, we will also be joined by Michael Hindle of Passive to Positive. Mr. Hindle is a local Passive House practitioner who is at the forefront of high performance multifamily design. He will lead a discussion on the imperative of low carbon building and the impact panelization may have on our path forward.
Due to space constraints attendees will tour the plant floor in two waves. Space is limited.
AIA LUs are anticipated for attendees.
ATTENDEES MUST WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES TO TOUR THE FACTORY.
About Blueprint Robotics
Founded in Baltimore in 2015, Blueprint Robotics has built a world‐class manufacturing facility and a team of professionals who know how to deliver. Blueprint Robotics is revolutionizing the construction industry with a new approach to building. They manufacture in a climate-controlled plant with a highly skilled workforce and state-of-the-art robotic technology. They build with exceptional precision, executed exactly to design specifications. Machines slice lumber and install insulation, wiring, plumbing, windows and doors. The materials, in panel form, are then shipped to a construction site, where Blueprint crews assemble them on top foundations. The Blueprint Method is an integrated engineering approach that virtually constructs projects utilizing BIM technology that eliminates surprises, reduces headaches, and mitigates risk.
About Michael Hindle
Michael is Principal of Passive to Positive, a consulting firm specializing in Passive House, Zero Energy, Net Positive design and construction methodology. Michael began his inquiry into sustainable design while teaching on an Architecture Design Studio faculty panel at Miami University of Ohio in 2003. Beginning in 2008 he worked as a designer and draftsman with a Baltimore residential architecture firm and researched ways to deepen the firm’s commitment to environmental practice.
Passive to Positive provides all of the consulting, energy, and moisture modeling to help designers deliver healthy, comfortable, safe and durable buildings for the low carbon future that is essential to our planet’s sustainability.
In 2010, Michael became one of only 230 Certified Passive House Consultants in the nation. Passive House is the most rigorous energy standard in the world achieving 90% heating and cooling reductions. He is now also a Certified Passive House Builder. In conjunction with Housing Up, Michael’s Weinberg Commons project received the 2017 PHIUS Affordable Housing Project of the year and became the first retrofit apartment building to Passive House standards in the United States.
